With your plans of a hot summer relaxing on a beach with a mojito in one hand and a Vogue in the other looking less likely, it’s time to start planning your summer staycation. With the current government rules, day trips to outdoor spaces are permitted however, taking any kind of overnight trip, including to visit a second home, is not allowed.
This doesn’t mean that your summer staycation will consist of Netflix 24/7 in your fake tan covered pj’s (unless, of course, that’s exactly what you want to do). You can still make your summer staycation feel luxurious from the comfort of your own home, and we’re here to share with you our 7 summer staycation ideas to get you through those holiday blues.
Have A Takeout Dinner At The Fanciest Restaurant In Your Town.
A staycation is the perfect time to get all dressed up and have a fancy meal from a restaurant you’ve always wanted to try, but felt a little too extravagant for your everyday dinner. So grab your partner (or your pet, we don’t judge), put on your fiercest fits, a pair of killer heels and have yourself a fancy at home date night.
Take A Day Trip.
Under the current government rules you are permitted to go on day trips to outdoor spaces. So why not hop in the car, pack a cute little picnic and find a local beach to set up you perf insta worthy day out. Don’t forget your SPF and sandals to keep you protected from the sun while also looking too cute not to snap a quick pic for the gram.
Detox From Social Media.
Some of the most luxurious getaways in the world probably have no WiFi, or don’t let you keep your mobile devices at all! So, to make your staycation feel even more vacation-like, disconnect from your phone and social media as much as you can. Enjoy the one on one time you have to yourself, maybe start up yoga or finally read that book you bought 3 months ago. If you’ve already read that, here are our 5 books you NEED to be reading.
Take An Online Cooking Or Art Class.
Since many of us often spend our vacations trying out new and exciting activities, take an online class that interests you while on staycation. Learn how to cook a gourmet, four-course meal or, paint a beautiful piece of art you can display in your home. It’s way better than getting a keychain at some souvenir shop.
Home Cinema Day.
Load up on the popcorn, sweets and chocolate for the ultimate movie marathon, enjoyed from the comfort of your own home. You can watch as many 90’s rom coms that Netflix has to offer or borrow those ancient things called DVDs from your parents. Dig out our comfiest pj’s and fluffiest slippers, throw that hair in a bun and you’re ready for the world’s comfiest cinema experience.
Getting Physical.
Now we’re not the athletic type, at all. But a good game of tennis or badminton can bring out the competitive side of even the quietest of huns. Some parks have a tennis court that you can hire out for free or a small fee, so dig out that old tennis skirt and cute cardi and serve up some sporty chic.
Do An At-Home Spa.
Rather than rushing to get a manicure as soon as the nail salon opens, check out what DIY manicures you can do on yourself from the comfort of your own bathroom. Why not order a few cute sheet masks, maybe finally use that fancy bath bomb you’ve had since Christmas or treat yourself to that expensive moisturizer you’ve been eyeing up. Once you’re ready to go just pop on some relaxing spa music and light a few candles and you’re at home spa is ready.
While we’re listing some of our favorite staycation ideas, it’s still important to enforce social distancing rules and wear PPE when social distancing is not possible.
