Halloween Makeup Ideas for Every Vibe

As we all know, Halloween is the one night out of the year when you can dress however you like and nobody can say anything about it. According to Mean Girls, anyway.

Here at EGO HQ, we love any excuse to dress up – especially on Halloween. We know which shoes we’re gonna wear before we’ve even planned our outfit (Juan, we’re lookin’ at you), but we’re always looking for Halloween makeup inspiration. So whether you’re going all-out scary à la Cady Heron, or you’re channelling your inner Regina and feeling a little more risqué – we’ve got the ultimate makeup inspiration for you.

Animal print is oh so on trend RN, so this gorgeous cat makeup is the purrrfect (soz) option for all you trendsetters to make sure you’re the leader of the pack. You’ve probably already got all of the makeup you’ll need for this look – making it ideal for babes on a budget. Simply apply your base how you usually would, with emphasis on that glow. Next, you’ll want to fill in your eyebrows – a strong brow is essential for this look.

With a bold eyeliner and double cut crease, this eye makeup isn’t for the faint hearted. But don’t let that spook you – simply tailor the look to your own ability (or get your MUA friend to give you a hand).

Keep that eyeliner handy for the rest of this look – you’ll be needing it, girl.

If you don’t trust yourself to go straight in with the gel liner, trace it out first with a pencil liner, as it’s easier to wipe off if you make a mistake. Simply use the liner to draw round the tip of your nose, and draw a line right down towards your cupid’s bow. Next, line your top lip with your pencil liner, before filling it in with gel (trust us!).

Next, it’s time to move on to the whiskers. Simply draw three dots on either side, followed by three fine lines towards your cheeks. Make sure you don’t go too OTT with this bit – you still want to look cute AF.

Finally, it’s time to move onto our fave part – glitter lips. Line and fill your bottom lip with a nude pencil. Next, take a liquid glitter eyeshadow and pat it on to your lip, building up the intensity as desired.

We’d pair this look with a black bodycon and some killer animal print heels to really make a statement this Halloween.

Halloween and dark lips go together like tequila and limes, so make the most of it by going all out with your darkest, vampiest lipstick.

Before you even think about starting your makeup, you need to prep your lips. Use a sugar scrub to exfoliate any dry skin from your lips, before adding a touch of your fave lip balm. Next, apply your base as you usually would, making sure you’re just a lil’ bit more heavy handed with your blusher and brows – there’s nothing subtle about this makeup.

Moving onto your eyes, create a sultry, smokey eye using reds and purples, making sure to blend it really well. Add a little red or purple glitter to your lid and inner corners of your eyes – this is what makes the whole look ‘pop’.

Next, get a lil’ bit heavy handed with your liner on your waterline and lower lash line, before smoking it out with a little of your red eyeshadow. Then apply your eyeliner to your upper lash line, extending it out to create a dramatic winged look. Finally, apply your fave lashes and lashings of mascara to create truly mesmerising eyes.

It’s up to you whether you add the ‘cracked’ effect under your eyes – the look is just as effective with or without this addition.

Finally, it’s time for those lips. Line and fill your lips with your darkest, most sultry liner you’ve got, before finishing the look off with your fave vampy lipstick. Et voilà – your makeup is complete.

Pair this look with a red strappy body, black leather-look jeans and the Juan Fishnet Heels in Red for a hell raisin’ costume this Halloween.

Halloween Horror: Vampire Vixen

Sexy and scary, this vampire vixen is the perfect look for those of you who like to get your fright on this Halloween. With uber-pale skin and a contour that Kim K would be proud of, this look is sure to turn heads for all the right reasons. So ditch the fake tan and dig out your darkest lipstick – this is the look for fright night.

As this look is so pale, you’ll need to apply a thick layer of foundation to avoid looking patchy. For the contour, you want to use a grey-toned powder and blend as little as possible – there’s nothing subtle about this look!

After sculpting a super strong brow, it’s time to move onto the eyes. Create a super smokey eye with red and purple eyeshadows – the more OTT, the better! Line your eyes with lashings of liner, smoking it out on your lower lash line and bringing it to a point in the inner corners of your eyes, before adding a little highlighter to the inner corners. As a final touch, add some dramatic volumising lashes to complete the eye makeup.

Finally, the star of the show – the lips. Grab the darkest purple liner you can find and use it to line and fill your lips. Next, apply some dark purple lipstick to your lips, smudging it out in one corner. To give this look a little extra bite, add a touch of fake blood dripping from the corner of your mouth for that ultra vampy vibe. Fierce.

As for the outfit, a simple black or burgundy bodycon dress teamed with over the knee boots will finish off this look perfectly.

And there you have it – our top Halloween makeup ideas for this year to make sure you’re looking fierce AF.  We’d love to see your creations, so don’t forget to #EGOsquad on social.
